I’m a backend engineer at Microsoft on the ingestion pipeline for Azure Log Analytics. Outside work I co-run GowTom Technologies, where we ship ChooseLocal and Algomancer.
2025-07 → now
Backend development for Azure Log Analytics, on the ingestion pipeline. My first year, as an event stream: large, ambiguous, cross-team work, owned end to end.
Also an Early-in-Career interviewer, a charity fundraiser, and sponsor of a university award for final-year computing students.
Designed and shipped a multi-tenant shared AKS platform from scratch — IaC deployment, namespace-scoped RBAC, security hardening, observability. It now serves multiple internal services.
Built production cloud infrastructure from zero in Bicep with automated pipelines, including a region-agnostic onboarding pattern now reused across teams. Replaced a manual, multi-day VM reprovisioning process with an automated IaC system.
Led my team’s adoption of AI-assisted development through hands-on study groups, co-led an internal AI workshop, and set up agentic tooling patterns (AGENTS.md, MCP) that other teams have since picked up.
Drove cross-team migrations off a deprecated legacy platform, taking several pipelines to 100% production traffic. Completed an AI-driven .NET Framework → .NET 10 migration at a 100% test pass rate, and wrote it up as a guide shared with hundreds of engineers.
Investigated and resolved a high-severity incident across 11 regions, and wrote the root-cause analysis.
Founded with Niamh Gowran as GowTom Technologies.
